Duette Architella Unsupassed Energy Efficiency

Duette Architella is the greatest innovation to honeycomb or cell shades since Hunter douglas invented them. What they did was to take one honeycomb and then tuck a second honey comb cell inside the first.

The result is nothing short of fantastic. The design increases the energy efficiency by creating not two but three distinct dead air spaces. A dead air space is the best insulating devise you can have.

Those dead air spaces stop heat and cold right in their tracks, greatly reducing energy costs.

Not only do you get to save money but you get a gorgeous window treatment to boot.

The inner pleat construction allows the pleats in both the front and the back of the shade to stay crisp and consistent in shape from top to bottom. This is a vast improvement over the cell shade construction which has a tendency to flatten out and lose it's shape after a period of time.

Again thanks to the new construction duette architella shades have a deep luminous color that doesn't wash out or fade from the sun. That extra layer of protection does amazing things and keeps the sun away.

You get opaques that are unsurpassed for brilliance, maintaining that rich look and feel that is so important.

On the down side, Hunter douglas has chosen to offer the duette architella collection only through Hunter Douglas Gallery and Showcase Priority Dealers. What this means for us is that they won't be available from the discount dealers. Home Depot and the other big box stores won't be able to sell them.

The dealers mentioned above are high end retailers that as a general rule don't offer discounts. So the prices for this Hunter Douglas product will remain on the higher end for some time.

Another disadvantage is the cleanability of this product which is no different than any type of pleated or cell shade. They just are not "cleaning friendly".

A good vacuuming with your vacuum brush will generally do the trick and keep them in good shape, but should you soil them be careful and test and test again before using any kind of solvent on them.

I would recommend the Duette Architella, regardless of cost, for the insulating factor alone, but with these you also get extremely good looks thrown in. What a deal!
