Cordless window blinds eliminate cords lottering in your window

Can't stand the sight of cords dangling in your window then check out the cordless window blinds. They go up with just the touch of your hand on the bottom of the blind.

They come down with a little more friction but they are still simple and easy to use.

They work on the same principle as the spring roller shade. Inside the headrail there is a spring tension device that increases the tension as you lower the shade. This is what causes the tension or resistance to going down as you lower them.

Don't get me wrong this tension is hardly noticeable but I wanted to point it out so you would be aware of it. Some one with muscle or strength problems in their arms would definitely want to try it before they bought the easy up option.

They stop on a dime and stay there till you move them again.

Cordless window blinds usually come with a plastic tab attached to the bottom rail. This is what you grab to raise and lower the shade. Personally I prefer to grab the bottom rail itself and pull it down.

I also think the plastic tab is not eye candy and would be better left off. But the manufacturers didn't ask my opinion so the tab is there.

In some shades such as the window cell shades the headrail need to be deeper to accommodate the spring mechanism. Because of this the headrail on easy up cell shades is 2 to 2 1/2 times deeper than the regular cell shade.

One of the main selling feature of cell shades is that when they are in the up position they are out of site. Not so with the cordless cell shades when there are up they have this big ugly headrail that definitely can be seen.

With most other window blinds the headrail is the same size as the regular blind. The only other exception is the cordless mini blind but the larger headrail is not as noticeable on the mini.

The manufacturing companies have different ways to charge for the cordless option. Bali charges a flat $29 up charge for the cordless option, others have a separate price chart for this option.

Should you get the cordless option? I think it's up to you and what you like or dislike. Personally I think it's not worth paying the extra money for but if they were to offer it to me for free I would probably accept the offer and be thankful.
