The reason aluminum mini blinds are so popular is that they are so versitle. As I write this I'm can look out on the lawn outside but at the same time I'm protected from the glare of the sun because I have the blinds tilted so I can look out but the glare of the sun can't get in just a nice soft light comes through.

Among the more popular options is the ability to have them rise with just a slight touch of you hand. Instead of using a cord control to raise or lower your aluminum mini blind you just raise or lower by gently pulling or pushing on the bottom rail.

Another option is the ability to choose between a two cord tilt control and a plastic wand. They both do a great job of changing the angle of tilt on the blind.

I personally prefer the wand tilt but the only draw back I can think of for the cord tilt is that it takes two hands.

Anyone who has ever had to clean mini blinds or for that matter any type of horizontal slatted blind will tell you that they are terrible to clean. Down right annoying!

Horizontal blinds are a dust magnet if there ever was one. The best way to clean them is to use your vacuum sweeper with a soft brush on the end of it's hose.

If your in a hurry run a feather duster over them in the closed position. This creates a lot of dust so be wear.

Mini Blinds come in a number of different gauge thickness for the slates. The economizer or 6 gauge slat are not very forgiving. They bend very easy and are almost impossible to straighten out.

I personally prefer the 8 gauge slat or better. They just hold up a lot better than the 6 gauge. For the little bit difference in price I think you are penny wise and pound foolish to purchase the 6 Gauge blind.
