I was told my faux wood blinds will be too heavy but what is too heavy? I'm a big person so I can lift more why can't I get a larger faux wood blind.

Faux wood blinds are made of solid vinyl to prevent the slats from warping. There are also made thick to imitate the thick wood slates on real wood blinds.

There are a few unscrupulous companies out there who make very thin slatted faux wood blinds. When you see these blinds usually at deep discount junk stores don't waste your time or money. The thin slatted blinds will not last long before they crack and warp.

You can also tell by the brand. The good companies produce quality product so you will come back and buy them again and again. So if it's a brand you don't recognize I would stay away from it.

What I'm taking all this time to say is that a quality faux wood blinds will be heavy-It has to be heavier than a real wood blind to be a quality faux wood blinds.

So when I was told my faux wood blinds will be too heavy they were partly right. A 72" wide by 72" long faux wood blind will be (depending on the manufacture) around thirty five pounds.

This may not seam like a lot till you are pulling on those thin cords that raise and lower the blinds, then it's a lot of weight to bring up.

Most of the companies don't make them much larger than this for this reason. They want the blinds to be a pleasant experience not a physical challenge to raise and lower.

I realize that most people leave there faux wood blinds in the down position and adjust the light and privacy with the tilt control only raising the blinds a few times a year to clean the windows.

So this question of "I was told my faux wood blinds will be too heavy" should not be one of great ponderability. Faux wood blinds give you a ton of good looks at a relatively low price so if your going to get a big faux wood blind just make sure there is someone around to help you raise and lower the blinds.
